Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 23, 2025
iplyte lets you explore IP intelligence without trading away your privacy. This page explains what data we process, why we process it, and how you can reach us with any questions.
Our Privacy Principles
- Minimal collection: We collect the minimum information needed to operate and secure the service.
- No ads or cross-site tracking: We do not use advertising identifiers, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics.
- No sale of data: We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- Transparency: We explain what we collect and why, in plain language.
- User control: You can contact us to access, correct, or delete log data linked to your IP where feasible.
Information We Collect
We collect the minimum necessary information to run, secure, and improve the service for all users.
- Server logs: When you visit iplyte, our servers record your request (IP address, requested path, user agent, and timestamp). Logs are kept for up to 30 days to monitor abuse and provide operational insights.
- Lookup inputs: The IPv4 addresses you look up are processed in memory to return results and are not stored permanently once the response is generated.
- Support communications: If you email us, we process your email address and the content of your message to respond and improve support. We do not use support messages for marketing.
- Account data: iplyte does not require accounts, so we do not collect usernames, passwords, or profile information.
How IP Lookups Work
IP lookup results are produced by referencing the IP2Location LITE dataset that we host locally. Lookup requests are not forwarded to external providers, and the results are returned directly to your browser.
When you choose "Use my IP", we fetch your public IP address via our own API to display it on the page. The value is cached locally in your browser session and is not shared with third parties.
Lookup inputs are processed in memory and are not persisted to a database; server logs store only what is necessary for reliability and abuse prevention.
Cookies and Analytics
iplyte does not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics. We may use first-party session storage to remember simple interface preferences (for example, the result of the "Use my IP" action), and you can clear them at any time via your browser settings.
We also do not track your activity across non-affiliated websites and do not respond differently to browser Do Not Track signals because we already avoid cross-site tracking.
Security
We implement technical and organizational measures appropriate to the risk, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls on operational systems, least-privilege access, and routine log deletion.
IP lookup inputs are not stored permanently, and server logs are retained for up to 30 days unless a longer period is required to investigate abuse or security incidents.
Data Sharing
We do not sell or rent personal data. We may disclose limited information if required by law or when necessary to protect the security of the service and our users. We do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising.
Your Rights & Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold (for example, IP addresses in server logs). You can also object to or restrict certain processing.
- Access & correction: Ask for a copy of your data (where identifiable) and request fixes to inaccuracies.
- Deletion: Request deletion of log entries related to your IP, where feasible and not required for security or legal purposes.
- Opt-out of marketing: We do not send marketing emails; support messages are used only to respond to you.
- CCPA/CPRA (California): You have rights to know, delete, and opt out of sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
- GDPR/UK GDPR (EEA/UK): You may have rights to data portability and to object to processing based on legitimate interests.
Contact us at privacy@iplyte.com and we will do our best to help.
Legal Bases (GDPR/UK GDPR)
When applicable, our legal bases for processing are legitimate interests (to operate, secure, and improve the service), consent (when you ask us to contact you), and legal obligation (to comply with law enforcement or court orders).
Children's Privacy
Our service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy as iplyte evolves. When changes are made, we will update the last updated date at the top of this page. If the revisions are significant, we will provide additional notice on the homepage or within the app.
